Your PADI instructor will teach you how set up your scuba equipment, plan, conduct and log no stop (non decompression dives) dives. But before you do your open water dives in the ocean there’s the confined water session. Confined water sessions (swimming pool) serves two purposes, first it establishes the basic skills that all divers need (or may need in the unlikely event of a problem) in a relatively low stress environment. Second, it reinforces and supplements Knowledge Development training by having you practice and apply what you learnt from reading the manual and watching the PADI Open Water videos.
The Open Water Dives complete the integration of the principles learned in Knowledge Development and the skills learned in the Confined Water Dives, with your instructors guidance you will apply the skills you mastered in the confined water dives in the ocean. Your first two dives are to a maximum 12 metres and on the dives three and four your instructor takes you to a maximum of 18 metres.
For the Classic PADI Open Water Diver Course:
The first day, we start at 10:00 in the classroom for the knowledge reviews The second day we go to the swimming pool to complete the confined water skills and also continue with the knowledge development. The last 2 days we start at 06:45 by picking you up from your resort (Lamai area), with a short drive to the pier to Bophut or Bangrak. The boat leaves at 08:00 to Koh Tao or Sail Rock and we return to Koh Samui between 13:30 (Sail Rock) and 16:00 (Koh Tao). The boats we use are modern speed boats and are fully equipped with 02, life jackets and first aid.
